Vitiligo is a strange and quirky messenger-guide. It is complex, fascinating and mysterious. It urges me to reinterpret "beautiful," to take better care of myself, and ... is it true that we are all the same under the skin?

The painted messenger is freezing under the cold scrutiny of microscopes and incomprehensible scientific jargon. Let's take her to a warm place, an embrace, where she can speak in safety.

MY CANDY-HEART VALENTINE!

ONE LOVE LET'S KISS UR KIND HEART OF GOLD SWEET TALK KISS ME SMILE! CALL ME HUG ME CLOUD NINE MELT MY HEART ALL MINE I HOPE LOVE ME I'M SURE SUN SHINE CHILL OUT SO FINE DEAR ONE CUTIE PIE ASK ME GOT LOVE AWE SOME LOVE BIRD LOVE HER LOVE HIM
All the little candy-hearts were glued onto a pink, home-made, lovingly-made heart-card, and lovingly-mailed, by him.
"So, what about the 'MARRY ME' candy-heart?" I asked when we were on the phone.
"I ate it."
